Today might be one of the best days of your life. Or it might suck. You may be dealing with family drama, stress, or relationship issues. And you might be thinking that you just can’t handle it anymore. Or you might be helping a friend who is struggling and may be lost as to what you should say or do. Let us help you through.
You Matter is a movement of people who believe that suicide is preventable. No matter what you are dealing with or how much emotional pain you feel, there is help out there. It might not be easy to ask for, and your problems won’t magically go away, but in time, things will get better.
On this blog, we’ll talk about what it’s like to be a little unsure of your place in the world. Like when you have to move back in with your parents because money is tight or you lose your job out of nowhere. Some of us have been in your shoes before, and we’ll do our best to tell you what to expect so you can get a better handle on the tough stuff life throws at you.
Because we could all use a little more self-love, we’re going to share ideas about things that make us happy, help us work through our issues, and lower our stress levels. Hello, yoga. Goodbye, crappy day.
We won’t shy away from serious topics like depression; self-harm; lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender issues; bullying; and suicide. In fact, we’re going to be really open about the times we have needed help and gotten through difficult times.
We’ll welcome your stories—written or in video—and plan to collect and feature them on this blog. Be on the lookout for an upcoming post about this.
You can show your support for You Matter by liking our Facebook page; following us on Twitter and Tumblr; and posting our logo on your blog, as an avatar, or wherever you feel like it. You can also check out our YouTube channel.
You matter. That’s why we’re here.
